Dr. Atul Kesarwani has been performing Brazilian butt lifts for over 20 years. A Brazilian butt lift (autologous fat transfer) transfers your own fat to the buttocks for buttock augmentation Toronto. As one of the first plastic surgeons in North America to perform autologous fat transfer to the breasts (fat grafting breast augmentation) and hands, it was only natural that Dr. Kesarwani include the buttocks as a target area. Dr. Kesarwani has achieved beautiful, natural looking results in fat transfer for thousands of patients, and the same can be done for you!
Dr. Kesarwani, an expert in Brazilian butt lifts and fat grafting, can help you regain or create fuller, curvier buttocks. Many aim for a waist-to-hip ratio of around 85%, while those desiring a Kardashian-like look may target a 60% ratio for optimal results.
Often, our patients find that despite numerous contouring exercises, they're unable to achieve their desired buttock shape. The solution lies in the Brazilian butt lift, designed to add volume where it's most needed.
Dr. Kesarwani employs gentle liposuction methods to minimize lumpiness. The extracted and purified fat has a high concentration, making it less likely to reabsorb. With careful measurements and surgical planning, we ensure predictable, successful results.
What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), a plastic surgery procedure involving fat transfer, is designed to enhance your figure. It's recognized in the medical field for being less painful and having a quicker recovery time compared to other butt enhancement methods. This is supported by research led by Dr. Thomas Roberts, a renowned American plastic surgeon.
Before deciding on the procedure, you can have a consultation with Dr. Kesarwani to discuss the expected results for your buttocks. This cosmetic surgery, also known as lipofilling, involves removing excess fat from certain parts of your body, purifying it, and then injecting it into your buttocks to increase volume and enhance the shape.
Candidates
Brazilian butt lift body contouring is suitable for men and women in good general health and realistic expectations who are interested in:
improving symmetry of the buttocks
rounding out its shape
increasing the size
providing a subtle lift.
You should be in relatively good health, both mentally and physically, have realistic expectations for the procedure and results and have sufficient body fat for the procedure, preferably concentrated in the stomach, waist, hips and upper thighs.
The First Step
A personal consultation with Dr. Atul Kesarwani is the first step toward realizing your goals in improving the shape and size of your buttocks. This private medical appointment is with Dr. Kesarwani. He will take the time necessary to answer your questions and explain how this procedure can fulfill your aesthetic goals.
During your consultation, Dr. Kesarwani will review your medical history. He'll also show you before and after Brazilian butt lift before and after photos from patients he has performed the procedure on previously.
Your Brazilian Butt Lift Consultation
For a successful Brazilian butt lift, your consultation is key. Let us know what medications or supplements you're on. Most likely, you'll continue them up to surgery day, except for blood thinners and diabetes drugs. We aim for you to leave the consultation feeling reassured and ready. Feel open to ask any questions, explore our operating room, discuss financial options, and view our before-and-after gallery.
Dr. Kesarwani will assess if you're a good fit for the procedure. He'll check your buttocks' size and shape, your available body fat for transfer, skin quality, elasticity, and any medical conditions that may risk the procedure or slow healing. If the procedure isn't right for you, we'll suggest alternatives.
A Special Note
Please note: This surgery requires 0.5 to 0.75 pounds of fat for optimal results. It's not suitable for slender individuals with limited fat reserves. Ideal candidates are 20-30 pounds above their desired weight, in their late teens to early 30s, and have firm, healthy skin. If you lack enough fat but are determined to proceed, we may suggest weight gain to increase fat transfer options.
Not everyone is a good candidate, but Dr. Kesarwani will examine the current size and shape of your buttocks, as well as how much body fat you have in other places to transfer to the buttocks region. Skin quality and elasticity also factor in, as do any pre-existing medical conditions that might make the procedure riskier or delay your healing. Alternate recommendations may be made if the procedure is not suitable for you.
Smoking
Most of the work you will be doing to prepare for your Brazilian butt lift will begin about two weeks before your procedure. However, there is at least one health concern that needs to be addressed well before that: smoking. The nicotine in cigarette (and modern e-cigarettes or vaping) can inhibit blood flow and slow the healing process following your surgery. Due to this risk, if you are a smoker you need to halt the habit several weeks before treatment. Most plastic surgeons recommend you stop smoking for at least four weeks before your surgery date, but the longer you abstain the less likely you are to experience complications.
Preparing for Your Brazilian Butt Lift
Properly preparing for your Brazilian butt lift cosmetic surgery will improve your surgery and achieve the best results. You'll even be able to see your backside results sooner!
Two weeks before your surgery
Two weeks before your scheduled Brazilian butt lift surgery day there are a number of precautions you should begin to take:
Stop taking any pain medications that also work as blood thinners, including aspirin, Advil, Motrin, and ibuprofen.
Stop taking any medications you have been prescribed as a blood thinner or to prevent blood clots or stroke, such as Warfarin, Coumadin, and Plavix. You should tell us all the medications and supplements you take so that we can make sure none will make surgery dangerous.
Stop taking any and all herbal medications and/or diet pills as advised.
Stop drinking alcohol of any kind. Alcohol works as a blood thinner and carries many of the same risks as medications.
Make sure we have all your blood work and test results to review.
Two days before your surgery
As the day of your Brazilian butt lift procedure draws ever closer, there are a few additional preparation instructions for you to follow:
You will have received a prescription for medications. Now is the time to have the prescriptions filled by your preferred local pharmacy. Be sure to bring them with you on the day of your Brazilian butt lift surgery.
Prepare loose clothing to wear to the clinic.
Stick to non-dairy and dry foods to avoid upsetting your stomach.
Begin taking stool softeners or drinking prune juice. The pain management medications you will be taking following the surgery can cause constipation. The precaution of stool softeners two days prior to your procedure can help mitigate this uncomfortable side effect.
Stock up on any postoperative supplies you may need, such as a "donut" cushion to sit on, healthy food and drink, bandages, compression garments, and ice packs.
If you haven't done so already, now is the time to arrange for someone to take you to your appointment, and bring you home after your Brazilian butt lift. Ideally, this person should stay with you for at least 24 hours after your procedure.
The day of your Brazilian butt lift surgery
On the day of your Brazilian butt lift surgery there are a few last minute preparation items to see to:
Fast for at least 8 hours before your Brazilian butt lift. You may take small sips of water if you require it for your medication, but no other food or drink should be ingested.
Bathe on the morning of, making sure to wash your entire body and hair with a simple, mild soap like Dove. There is no need to buy any special antibiotic or antibacterial products.
Shave or otherwise remove any hair from the areas to be treated.
Remove all piercings, and leave all jewelry and other valuables at home.
Do not wear any makeup or apply body lotions or creams.
Getting your mind and body ready
Remember, for the fastest, most efficient, and complication-free recovery to achieve the best results it is vitally important that you closely follow all preoperative instructions.
What Can I Expect?
Dr. Kesarwani meticulously plans and executes each Brazilian butt lift surgery, ensuring a unique and personalized approach for every patient. This procedure isn't one-size-fits-all; it's carefully tailored to fit each individual's needs.
This cosmetic surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia. It involves transferring fat from one part of the body to the buttocks through liposuction and subsequent fat injection. The process starts with gentle liposuction through a tiny, well-hidden incision in the abdomen or inner thigh. The goal is typically to collect three times the amount of fat to be transferred, with careful attention to avoid irregularities in the donor area.
Dr. Kesarwani ensures the harvested fat is purified meticulously, removing non-fat material to yield a high concentration of useful cells. This fat is then strategically injected into specific areas of the buttocks to achieve the desired results. The aim is to enhance your overall body contour and waistline with symmetry and proportion, eliminating the need for silicone buttock implants.
After Your Brazilian Butt Lift Buttock Augmentation Procedure: BBL Recovery
You'll be asked to wear a compression garment that covers the liposuctioned areas as well as your buttocks for 4-5 days 24/7. You'll need to keep pressure off your buttocks for 5-7 days — this allows blood vessels to grow within the transferred fat so that it can be sustained to achieve the best results.
After the inflammation decreases, you'll instantly see the transformation. However, it might take up to a year for your body to refine its look as the transferred fat stabilizes under gravity's influence. A portion of the initially transferred fat is naturally absorbed by your body as waste, but the majority remains intact. Typically, about 40-60% of the fat injected during a Brazilian butt lift survives. This survival rate is higher compared to other surgeons, thanks to Dr. Kesarwani's meticulous purification and injection methods designed to safeguard the fragile fat cells.
If you gain or lose weight after butt rejuvenation surgery, you might experience changes in your buttock shape. Additional surgeries may be performed to refresh your results depending on the extent of weight fluctuations.
What to Expect Week by Week After Your Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery
This is a week-by-week description of the recovery from your Brazilian butt lift procedure. Special emphasis is put on the kinds of recommended exercises and physical activities throughout the six to eight week recovery time, and beyond.
Weeks 1 & 2
During the first 2-3 weeks you should try to avoid sitting or putting any pressure on the buttock area for longer than a few moments at a time. Sitting on your new grafts too early can damage them, causing preventable complications. Sitting puts tremendous pressure on the area — up to 400 pounds per square inch in some places, regardless of your weight! This pressure can cut off blood flow to the new tissue. The new blood vessels forming in the implanted fat are delicate and fragile in the first weeks following surgery and can easily be deformed. If you absolutely must sit be sure to use an extremely soft cushion or a doughnut shaped pillow. It's best to rest or sleep on your stomach or side.
Some swelling and pain around the surgical area is to be expected and is easily controlled. Typically the pain is minimal and can be controlled with oral pain medication prescribed by Dr. Kesarwani. Stick to the medications that Dr. Kesarwani has prescribed as some, like aspirin, can increase bruising or cause complications with the new blood vessels forming. Any swelling is also controlled easily by wearing compression garments for at least the first 2 weeks, possibly a bit longer. A small amount of swelling can persist for up to 6 weeks.
Exercise is an important part of the first 2 weeks of your recovery. Start taking light walks as soon as you can. Short, easy walks can help reduce the risk of blood clots forming. However, strenuous fat burning exercises should be avoided for now.
Week 3
Initial recovery from a Brazilian butt lift surgery usually takes about 3-6 weeks. You might be able to return to work at this time, provided you don't need to sit for extended periods of time. You can use a soft cushion when you do need to sit. This precaution helps the fat to fully take hold, and secures the best aesthetics and long lasting results. Putting pressure on your butt too early may cause you to lose some of the transferred fat, even 3 weeks into recovery.
You should continue light exercise. You will also be able to add some light cardiovascular activities, like longer, more frequent walks and elliptical exercises. Focus on light weight training, so the new fat cells have the best chance to heal and stabilize. As long as you avoid exercises that specifically target your glutes and keep your workouts light, your Brazilian butt lift recovery shouldn't be affected.
Weeks 4 & 5
Finally, you can sit! Of course, sitting for long periods after this cosmetic procedure should still be done on a soft cushion to prevent "flattening out" of your new curves. You will also be able to begin adding more strenuous activities to your exercise routine, like bicycling (with a soft seat of course). Swimming will be safe, so you'll finally be able to enjoy a nice day at the beach or pool. Despite being able to exercise more energetically than before, it is still highly recommended that you relax on your stomach as much as you can.
Weeks 6 through 8
Depending on how your body responds, you should be healed enough now to resume most of your usual activities. At this point the fat cells should be stabilized, making them strong enough to handle the stress of more vigorous fat burning exercises like jogging or running for a healthy lifestyle, as well as strength training. If you're an active athlete, or even just a weekend warrior, you should be able to enjoy participating in outdoor sports as well.
Beyond Recovery
Once your body has completely recovered from the Brazilian buttock lift procedure, the grafted fat in your buttocks will behave the same way fat does anywhere else on your body. With weight fluctuations, the expansion and shrinkage of fat cells throughout your body will also occur in your butt.
As your weight changes, your augmented butt will change proportionally as well. But you can always have the confidence of knowing that your butt will be fuller in appearance than before.
One of the most common questions about a Brazilian butt lift is concerning weight loss. What happens to your butt if you lose weight? If the procedure is performed correctly, your new figure will be maintained through any weight loss or gain. You'll always have a larger butt than before surgery, although the size may fluctuate.
The best way to sustain the results of your Brazilian butt lift for years to come is through healthy diet and regular exercise.
BBL Reduction
If you've recovered from your surgery and have found that too much fat was transferred to your butt, a reduction can be performed with liposuction.
Frequently Asked Questions About Brazilian Butt Lift Toronto
How much does a BBL cost? How much is a bbl in Toronto?
The cost of a BBL, or Brazilian butt lift, ranges in price depending on the amount of fat removed and how much buttock contouring the patient desires. The typical brazilian butt lift cost would range from $8000 – $15000 in Toronto, Canada. This includes all fees.
What is Brazilian buttock lift surgery?
Brazilian butt lift is a plastic surgery butt augmentation procedure that takes fat from one part of your body, purifies it, then injects it into your buttocks. It is performed under local or general anesthetic. The fat grafting procedure has the ability to create improvements in shape, projection and firmness, thanks to the expertise of doctors skilled in fat grafting treatments. Excess skin can be filled out to create a rounder shape for flat buttocks.
Why would I want a Brazilian butt lift?
Most patients want to undergo the procedure to enhance body positivity without getting buttock implants.
Can I get a BBL if I'm skinny and have no fat cells?
Yes, you can still get a BBL Toronto for a better booty. Despite how lean Brazilian butt lift patients may be, there is always some amount of fat on their body that can be harvested. However, if this amount is insufficient to achieve a patient's goals, then they may be asked to gain a bit of weight prior to the procedure so they don't have to get silicone butt implants instead.
Should I get a Brazilian butt lift or implants for butt augmentation?
Buttock augmentation can be performed by plastic surgeons using two options: Brazilian butt lift and silicone implants. A BBL involves removing fatty tissue from one or more areas of your body, purifying it, then injecting it into your buttocks. The fat adds volume and rounds out contours. If you don't have enough fat (which is typically unusual), silicone butt implants can be used instead. Most patients prefer Brazilian butt lifts to implants simply because they don't have to deal with a foreign object in their body and the incisions are much smaller to achieve the best result, so scarring is far less noticeable.
How big are the scars from Brazilian butt lift surgery and where will they be?
The incisions made during both the liposuction and fat transfer portions of this surgery are very short in length. Excess fat can be removed with a small cannula at the donor site, so the incisions measure mere millimetres. The location of the incisions for liposuction depend on where your own fat is taken and are located within any natural creases that already exist in the area. Popular donor areas include the mid-section and thighs. For transferring fat to the buttocks, once again the incisions measure just millimetres and are located in the buttocks where the fat is needed. This is typically in the area of the lower back or within the creases underneath where the buttocks meet the upper thighs. The incisions are much shorter than those needed for buttock implants.
Is Brazilian buttock lift permanent?
The Brazilian butt lift procedure can achieve a permanent improvement of the buttock shape with transferred fat. The effects can last a long time. However, weight fluctuations and aging can negatively impact results. The transferred fat cells may expand or shrink, affecting the size and shape of the buttocks. However, generally speaking your buttock shape may always be rounder and perkier than if you hadn't had the procedure performed in the first place.
Is Brazilian buttock lift painful?
The Brazilian butt lift procedure involves a combination of liposuction and microinjections of fatty tissue. This may cause some discomfort following the procedure. Medication can be prescribed to reduce discomfort. Our patients tolerate the procedure well and don't describe it as painful.
Do I need to wear a compression garment?
Like other plastic surgery procedures, a compression garment may be worn in the areas where liposuction or a tummy tuck was performed which can also help with comfort. This will enhance your hourglass figure.
What happens if you sit after bbl?
Sitting immediately after a Brazilian butt lift may cause the transferred fat cells to become reabsorbed by your body, making the procedure ineffective. Blood vessels need to form in the transferred fat to sustain them, so it's recommended that you don't sit directly on your buttocks for a couple of weeks after your surgery.
Should I lose or gain weight before a bbl?
You should be at your ideal and stable weight before your Brazilian butt lift surgery. (In fact, the fat grafting buttocks procedure is more suitable for patients who are slightly overweight.) This allows results to be more predictable.
Is a BBL dangerous? How safe is a Brazilian butt lift?
A Brazilian butt lift is considered a safe fat transplantation procedure with limited risks. Generally speaking, the procedure has a good success rate and achieves an excellent body contour.
What are the risks of a Brazilian butt lift? Tell me about BBL risks.
Some more notable Brazilian butt lift risks include infection, pain, uneven contours, loss of skin and fat embolism. However, these risks are considered rare.
How much fat can be transferred to your butt during a Brazilian butt lift?
This all depends on your body and your goals. Only a certain amount of fat can be safely removed during the first part of the Brazilian butt lift with liposuction, and then transferred to the buttocks. It usually requires between ½ pound and ¾ pound of fat. You should have enough donor fat to account for lost fat grafts. You'll find out how much this would be for you during your consultation with Dr. Kesarwani, our head cosmetic plastic surgeon.
Does a Brazilian butt lift wear off?
Fat that has been transferred to the buttocks and remains after the initial recovery will remain permanently. However, if you lose weight after your fat injection surgery, the excess fat injected into the buttocks can shrink and negatively affect the shape and size of your Brazilian butt lift results.
How long does a Brazilian butt lift take?
A Brazilian butt lift procedure generally takes about 2-4 hours, depending on how much fat is transferred.
Can I exercise after a Brazilian butt lift?
With proper recovery, you can return to full physical activity without issue. A healthy exercise regimen and proper diet are recommended for your overall health.
When can I start exercising again after a Brazilian butt lift?
You should start doing some very light walking right after your Brazilian butt lift surgery. This is to encourage circulation, which also supports the injected fat harvest. By about a month or so after surgery, you can start resuming physical exercise to a normal level. Post-op instructions may change depending on whether another procedure was performed at the same time, such as a tummy tuck.
