Look at your skin. You don’t have acne, it feels pretty smooth, and the tone is pretty even. Yet, it still looks bad. Take a closer look – it could be enlarged pores.

Your pores are the tiny holes in your skin that allow natural oils and sweat to reach the uppermost layer, protecting the surface and regulating body temperature. It’s also where your hair is located. When we’re young, our pores are incredibly tiny in circumference, but as we age, they tend to get larger and more noticeable. Enlarged pores can make an otherwise perfect complexion unattractive.

Why Do They Happen

The size of your pores is determined foremost by genetics. However, other factors have a huge impact on their size. Excess oil, dirt and debris can easily clog all your pores, making them larger in appearance. Aging will also affect them as elasticity and suppleness decreases in relation to the disintegration of collagen and elastin.

Laser Skin Tightening to the Rescue!

You’ve probably seen the many moisturizing creams that claim the ability to tighten your pores, and toners that do the same. Beware! This is false advertising because they can’t technically remodel your skin. Moisturizers only add moisture and toners only cleanse out the pores. So what can you do to resolve this problem?

Laser Skin Tightening is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that boosts collagen and elastin production. It is scientifically proven to get right to the cellular level of the skin, changing the way it behaves to improve tone and texture. Over a series of sessions, you’ll see a gradual improvement in the size of your pores. Enlarged pores, be gone!

3 Tips to Smaller Pores

Complement your skin tightening treatments by following these 3 tips:

  1. Exfoliate regularly, but not on a daily basis (once or twice a week at most, depending on your skin type). This will remove the gunk that’s clogging your pores and making them look bigger.
  2. Use moisturizers suitable for your skin and weather. Lighter moisturizers are best for humid weather, while heavier ones should be used in the winter when it’s dry.
  3. Apply sunblock every time you go out. Research has found UV exposure is the primary cause contributing to the disintegration of elastin and collagen.
