The tummy tuck procedure is a surgery involving the removal of unwanted fat and loose skin in the mid-section. Because of the significant physiological changes involved in the procedure, it’s important for tummy tuck patients to follow post-surgery instructions regarding exercise limitations.

Try to Take Short Walks As Soon as Possible

Walking and moving around, even for a short amount of time, can help to prevent blood clots from forming. That’s why patients should start to walk around as soon as possible after the procedure has been completed. When the patient gains further endurance, they can begin to take longer walks. Don’t exert yourself especially in the early stages of your recovery — walk at a leisurely pace and take breaks.

Begin Lower Body Exercises About One Month After Surgery

Around one month after the procedure, tummy tuck patients are often better able to move around the home and begin to start feeling more comfortable. To start building strength throughout the body, the patient can now begin to complete low impact lower body exercises. Avoid over exerting yourself and refrain from doing any exercises targeting the core until a few more weeks have passed.

Ramp Up Exercise in the Months After the Procedure

Once endurance returns and the patient is able to move around a little more comfortably, they can begin to take on greater levels of exercise. Patients should try to streamline their recovery by completing leg exercises such as pelvic thrusts and leg curls. Once cleared by Dr Kesarwani, you can then move on to abdominal crunches to improve core strength. Performing one set of 10 to 12 repetitions each per day can significantly influence post-surgery strength.
