4 Steps To Successful Breast Augmentation Healing
Breast augmentation surgery is a popular procedure that enhances the look and shape of your physique. Like all surgical procedures, proper healing requires you to follow some key steps.
We’ll prescribe the proper protocol during your recovery phase. It’s important that you follow the instructions provided and implement these 4 steps to successful breast augmentation healing.
1. Acute Care After Your Breast Augmentation
When your procedure is completed, you’ll have your breasts covered in bandages and gauze. These materials, along with a compression bra, also provide immediate support for the breasts. Patients remain for a few hours after surgery in a designated recovery area in order to allow for close monitoring before being sent home.
Any medications or special instructions will be given to you so that you can begin the recovery process and optimize your body’s healing. We will set up a follow-up visit in order to see how you’re doing over time. Dr. Kesarwani will see you within 3 days of your surgery to remove the first dressings, ensure all is healing well, and provide you with early instructions.
2. Special Considerations
Fluid drains are sometimes required to control swelling, although this is becoming less and less common. If you do have drains, you’ll be instructed on how to use these and track the amount of fluid over time. Dr. Kesarwani’s patients rarely require drains after breast augmentaton.
In some cases, scarring can lead to capsular contracture, which can alter the appearance of your results. We will instruct you on how to apply proper self-massage techniques to prevent any unwanted changes during the recovery.
Maintaining a regular self-massage routine leads to better results and healing of the tissues.
3. Bathing After Breast Augmentation
It’s important to care for the bandages and dressings when bathing after surgery. After surgery, you’ll have the treated areas covered to protect against infection.
Adhesives can stay in place when bathing, but you should be careful not to fully submerge your body in water.
You’ll want to return to your daily activities as soon as possible. But you should also be careful not to interfere with the healing process.
Bras that use underwires can be detrimental due to the pressure they place on the breast tissues. We’ll provide a special supportive bra you’ll need to wear as long as recommended. These are designed to prevent unwanted effects on your overall results.
Ointments can also be provided to apply to the incisions after your surgery. After the stitches are removed silicone ointments may help reduce the final appearance of any incisions. Follow the instructions given to you for as long as needed.
Successful breast augmentation healing requires a comprehensive program that includes support from you doctor and routine self-care. Follow these suggested steps to get the best results and return to your daily activities as soon as possible!
